Obituary

Lucinda Trapp Ravnell, 83, went home to be with the Lord carried by angels to the arms of Jesus Wensday morning October 17, 2012 at the home of her loving son and his wife, Ernest and Jeannie Ravnell who were at her bedside at the time of her crossing. She lived her adult life in Jacksonville, FL and her last request was to leave Florida and go to the mountains of Tennessee with her loving son, Ernest for her final days. Ernest and Jeannie Ravnell were blessed to be with her as she crossed her last and most beautiful mountain. She was in Cleveland with her son, Ernest for only16 days. A time spent talking, hugging, crying, laughing and above all feeling the love we had for each other. She had not spoken for five days, but the night before the angels came she called her son’s name “Ernest”.

Lucinda was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker who raised two wonderful sons, one who was waiting at the gates of heaven for her. She had a wonderful love of children and raised a multitude of them. It did not matter that they were not of her blood. She loved them as her own with her heart of gold. If a stranger showed up at her house hungry, they left full. She always took great pride in her cooking.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clayton and Mattie Trapp, grandparents, her husband Ernest Ravnell II and her youngest son Reginald Lamar Ravnell and a host of friends.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law Ernest Ravnell III and Jeannie, five grandsons, ten granddaughters, twenty two great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren and a host of other extended family members and friends.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

You are encouraged to share a memory of Lucinda and/or your personal condolences with her family by visiting her memorial web page and guest book at www.companionfunerals.com.

Companion Funeral & Cremation Service and the Cody family is honored to assist the Ravnell family with these arrangements.

I called her Grandma because the day I met her, she said everyone called her that. We laughed together, we cried together and I am certain she knew that she could always trust me to follow her wishes. She appreciated everything anyone every did to help her. I am honored to have known her and she will never be forgotten. Rest in peace special lady. I miss you.

Ernest and Jeannie,My deepest sympathy to you in the loss of your mother. I called her "Miss Lucinda" and had many enjoyable visits with her over the past year. She was a woman of strong faith, had no fear, and as you said, loved babies and children. Whenever I brought her any kind of treats, she always shared them with the children. I was blessed to know her, and I was blessed the day she left to go with you to Tennessee, in that I had the opportunity to tell her "Goodbye" and that I loved her. I know that one day, I too, will see her again. May God bless you and your family in the days ahead. Margaret Rose

Lucinda Ravnell was a woman of strength and compassion. She was a blessing to anyone that had a chance to make her acquaintance. My grandmother (mama) impacted many lives in such a special way. She will be missed so much but her legacy lives in all of us. Thank you mama for your love and all the sacrifices you made. You live a long and glorious life. You taught us about God, life, and instilled in all of us a desire to work hard and be the best we could. For all your hard work on Earth, your reward in heaven will be endless. You will be missed and always loved. Until we meet again.
